O
regon is a land of water. From the Pacific Ocean, waterfalls along the Columbia River Gorge, majestic Wallowa Lake, and the many rivers experience that connection to marine life. The 620 foot Multnomah Falls is the most visited natural landmark in Oregon. The mighty Columbia River cuts more than a 4,000 feet deep gorge through the Cascade Mountains. The Oregon Coast is truly special and unique.
The entire coastline is publicly accessible. You will have a difficult time selecting your favourite part of the beach. You may want to visit Oregon’s historical coastal town, Astoria. Stay at Surfsand, or Ocean Lodge, to get that spectacular view of the ocean from your room. TuTu’Tun Lodge, is built on a former Native American encampment on the Rogue River.
Be a part of the water by taking a cruise on Marine Discovery Tours (Newport). Like something a little more adventurous? Take a jetboat along the Rogue River. In Oregon, you can also kayak, canoe, or enjoy white water rafting. Fly fish, go crabbing, windsurf, or kiteboard. Savour the wonderful seafood on the Oregon coast that includes Dungeness crab, salmon, oysters, and clams. Even if you aren’t into water sports, pack the golf clubs and enjoy the view from the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort on the three courses. In Cannon Beach, combine art with leisure by visiting the Northwest by Northwest Gallery. Don’t miss taking a shot of one of Oregon’s many lighthouses. |
